Moro Community accuse General Akinrinade of sponsoring communal crisis

Following fears that the crisis between Moro and Yakoyo communities, both in Ife North Local government area of Osun State, might escalate, the Moro Progressives Union have written to the Osun State Governor, to immediately call a former Chief of Defense staff and a native of Yakoyo, General Alani Akinrinade to order.

The Union, in a letter sent to Governor Oyetola and signed  its President, Elder Femi Ojedele accused General Akirinade of being behind the previous communal clashes between the two communities, a repeat of which is now being instigated, by the decision of Yakoyo community, to conduct the installation of its traditional ruler, Oba Meshach Oyediran, the Olulamokun of Yakoyo, at a venue, Origbo Anglican Grammar School, Moro, now being referred to as the Origbo Anglican Grammar School, YAKOYO, by the organisers of the event, whose principal actor has been named Akinrinade.

The letter further read ” That the purpose of the name of the VENUE of the EVENT, is another ploy or means to cause communal clash AGAIN. This is the beginning of another CARNAGE on Moro sons and daughters, intentionally organised by the only retired General, who has determined to wreck another havoc on his MATERNAL side. He believes he has monopoly of violence, together with his cohorts.”

Bearing in mind that the venue of the scheduled coronation of Oba Oyediran is outside the Yakoyo community, the Moro Progressive Union said the presentation of staff of office to any Oba in Yoruba land, takes place on their own land and domain, and not on another town’s land.

The union therefore on behalf of the people of Moro community, appealed to Governor Oyetola, to instruct the people of Yakoyo, to return the coronation ceremony of their new Oba, to their community, in order for peace to reign.
