Civil Society Groups laud Nigerian Army’s sustained victory over Boko Haram
The Coalition of Civil Society Groups against Terrorism in Nigeria has lauded the Nigerian Army over its recent sustained defeat of the remnants of the Boko Haram insurgents. Speaking through its Convener, Comrade Odeyemi Oladimeji, the group expressed its joy in the fatal blow dealt on the insurgents while it attempted an attack on the location of the troops of 64 and 98 Task Force Battalions and elements of the Armed Forces Special Forces Battalion at Malam Fatori in Abadam LGA of Borno State.
The group said by the sustained gallantry of the Army, it has once against demonstrated its resilience, dexterity, capacity and capabilities to bring the activities of the criminal Boko Haram insurgents to a permanent end.
The group said Nigerians should see the recent landmark victories of the Nigerian Army as a clear testimony of a people centred Nigerian Army, under the leadership of Lt. General Tukur Buratai.
The groups maintained that at no time in the country’s history had the Army leadership shown more commitment than it was now been seen under the leadership of General Buratai.
The group equally lauded the Nigerian Army leadership for partnering with several local companies in Nigeria, like DICON, Innoson motors, Proforce Nigeria Limited, Nigerian machine tools , among others towards the production of light and heavy armoured vehicles, critical equipments as well as protective clothing for our troops.
These collaborations , the statement said have led to the development of the TYB Rover, Infantry Patrol Vehicle (IPV) and the Bionbion Helicopter among several other equipments.
The group equally reiterated it earlier position by once again calling on the Federal government to improve funding for the Military. The war against terrorism is not a conventional war and this doesn’t come cheap but with adequate funding and organise strategy. The group in the statement also gave credit and commendation to President Muhammadu Buhari for his painstaking commitment to the physical and professional welfare of the officers and men of the Nigerian Army.
