Special Report: How Power Tussle over Ilusin Obaship Crown Threatens Peace
Crown and Scepter are a symbol of power and authority for cultural heritage leadership by Ilusin Traditional Setting. Different folks, different stroke. The Ajuwale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Alayeluwa Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, (GCON) is about to install a total stranger as the Oba of Ilusin, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State, on Tuesday, 20th of August, 2024. It is also verse knowledge in Ijebuland, that the king (Oba) like a masquerade does not dress himself. It is not part of a cultural heritage of a king’s job description to decide or determine who succeeds him, after the king’s rite had been performed at birth.
Any king that does that to install a man as a king when he is not from royal ruling house would have failed in his duty to rightly acknowledge the birth of his children by sequence to his chiefs. A throne should remain by legitimate birth right and not by force and might. With respect to the practice of the people of Ilusin Kingdom Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State, it is wrong for any Oba to transfer, exchange or be sold for money. The stool, became vacant after the death of Oba Taiwo Adesanya about Twenty (20) Years after Fifteen (15) years on the throne. The proposed King (Oba) Mr Mafe Abimbola Jimoh is never related to the late Oba Taiwo Adesanya.
It will be a taboo, to fill the vacant stool of ONISIN of ILUSIN with a non-indigene like Mr Mafe Abimbola Jimoh, who every indigene knows as a stranger to Ilusin land. The late father of Mafe Abimbola Jimoh Pa. Musari Olowobode Mafe was rejected Fifty (50) years ago, to be given Balogun Chieftaincy title, because he is not the son of Ilusin Land. The identity of Mr Mafe Abimbola Jimoh to be the King of Ilusin Land baffled every member of concerned Elites of Ilusin and the stakeholders of Ilusin Community.
Investigation, revealed that Mr Mafe Abimbola Jimoh is an imposter. A remarkable incident happened during the reign of Oba Olasanya in Abedoye ruling house, his son Oyebalujo married Madam Olusi the daughter of the then Oba Moyegeso, the Awujale of Ijebu-Ode. Madam Olusi got pregnant and was delivered of her first male child whom they named Oyemade-Ogidigan. Eventually, when Oyemade-Ogidigan grew old, he was install to the throne and succeeded his grandfather Olasanyin because his father Oyebolujo who was rightly entitled to the Throne was unfortunately and valid, therefore the stool remain vacant for many years.
The case of the Ilusin Obaship title had been ridiculed by one popular Professor of Ilusin land. He was the person who approved the non-indigene as Oba of Ilusin. He did it to save his head. It was Mr Mafe Abimbola Jimoh who assisted him during a scandal,in a Southwest based Federal University, many years ago.
It was a pay back to Mr Mafe Abimbola Jimoh, who begged the victim not to follow up the case. The selection of the Regency Council members who voted were only three, which was the handwork of the Professor. The concerned Elites has threatened to go to court to stop the coronation and the blessing of Mr Mafe Abimbola Jimoh.
